LIFEGUARD COURSE PRE-REQUISITES
- Age : Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class; cannot be hired to work as a lifeguard until age 16,
- Endurance Test : 300-yd continuous swim: 100 yards freestyle, 100 yards breaststroke, then 100 breaststroke and/or freestyle. (300 yards = 15 lengths or 7.5 laps) All strokes must be correct.
- Strength Test: 20 yards of head up, approach stroke, surface dive to depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound diving brick, swim 20 yards with brick and exit pool. You may use your choice of kick but both hands must remain on the brick. There is a time limit of 1 minute, 40 seconds.
These certifications are required to be employed as a lifeguard.

The lifeguard course is scheduled for 32 hours. Upon completion each Lifeguard Candidate will receive the following certifications: Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Automated External Defibrilation and Prevention of Disease Transmission.

Takes 12-16 hours. Must be able to demonstrate water skills, CPR
and pass written test with minimal help.
LIFEGUARD CHALLENGE............................................. 85.00 BRING OWN POCKET MASK
Takes 3-4 hours. Must be able to demonstrate water skills, CPR and First Aid, and pass written test without help. If unable to pass, candidate must enroll in Lifeguard Class and payment for challenge is forfeited.
