Miller proudly presents the ThinkSafe Program
Miller Swim School is thrilled to announce the start of our water safety initiative, ThinkSafe. Throughout the years, Miller has come to realize the prevalence of injury and death due to drowning in Oklahoma and has sought ways in which this tragedy might be prevented. Through much research and experience, we have created a water safety program with the specific goal of educating families on the most effective ways to safeguard children and adults against drownings. The ThinkSafe initiative is divided into three programs varying in time and content based on the needs of the group to whom it is presented. The goal of the program is to educate students and their guardians on water safety, both in and out of the water. Content of the program is based on water safety tips, life jacket education, boating information, basic emergency recognition and rescue skills. The presentations include games, relays, stories, and activity/coloring sheets and can be adapted for preschool aged children to college students. If you would like more information……
30 Minute Presentation
This is the core presentation for the ThinkSafe initiative. It is a detailed overview of water safety, life jackets, buoyancy, and drowning prevention. This half hour presentation includes demonstrations, and a review game. If you have a short amount of time and desire to educate participants on the basics of water safety, this presentation is ideal for you.
1 Hour Presentation
The one hour presentation is an expanded version of the 30 minute core presentation. It allows more time for explanation, demonstration, and interactive activities. This presentation includes stories, demonstrations, relay races, review games, and interactive coloring sheets. If you have anywhere from 45 minutes-1 hour and desire a more interactive approach to teaching water safety, this presentation is ideal for you.
2 Hour Presentation
The two hour presentation is the most intensive version of our ThinkSafe initiative. During this time more detail is given to specific sections of the presentation. There is also an added section on Boating Safety. During the two hours this presentation includes stories, demonstrations, relay races, review games, interactive emergency recognition activities, and the basic selection presented in the 30 minute presentation. If you desire an in depth presentation on water and boating safety with extra emphasis on emergency recognition and action, or if you have a group of older students, Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts of America, then this presentation is ideal for you.
